Is this the same VPSLatch that HostDime bought in 2011?
No. The original VPSLatch was founded around 2010 and acquired by HostDime.com, Inc. in 2011. That business no longer trades under this name. The domain lapsed, and we registered it fresh in August 2026. We hold none of the original company's customers, contracts, data or liabilities.
I was a customer years ago. Is my old account still there?
No. Every service, invoice, ticket and login from the original business ended more than a decade ago and none of it transferred with the domain. Nothing about you is in our database unless you put it there.
Why do search results show unrelated foreign-language pages?
While the domain was expired, a third party used it for several hundred auto-generated spam pages. Those are gone and each of those URLs now returns 410 Gone so search engines drop them permanently. Some stale results may linger for a while; they are not ours.
Do you really only take bitcoin?
Yes. No cards, no PayPal, no bank transfer, and no altcoins. If bitcoin does not work for you, we are the wrong host and we would rather you knew that on this page than at checkout.
How many confirmations before my server is built?
1 confirmation. The invoice shows "payment seen" within seconds of your transaction hitting the mempool, then settles automatically once it confirms, which typically takes about ten minutes but depends on the fee you set.
What if the price moves while I am paying?
It does not affect you. The rate is locked when you open the payment page and held for 60 minutes. Pay within that window and the amount shown is the amount owed, whatever bitcoin does in between.
What if I send slightly the wrong amount?
Small shortfalls are absorbed automatically. A genuine shortfall shows on the invoice with the exact amount still missing — send the difference to the same address and it settles itself. Overpayments become account credit at the rate you paid. In every case your bitcoin is already in our wallet and credited to you; nothing is ever lost in the gap.
What if I pay after the quote expires?
It still arrives and still counts. We watch every address we have ever issued, indefinitely, not just while the quote is live. The invoice reconciles what you sent against what is owed at the locked rate.
How fast is provisioning?
Hours, not seconds. A person builds your server by hand. That is slower than a big cloud and we are not going to pretend otherwise on a page called FAQ.
Do you keep backups of my server?
No. Node redundancy is not a backup and we will not let you believe it is one. Take your own, off the machine. We will take a manual snapshot before something risky if you ask.
What can I not run?
No spam, no phishing, no malware distribution, no attacking other networks, no CSAM. Outbound port 25 is closed until you ask and tell us what you are sending. Beyond that we are not going to audit your traffic. The Acceptable Use Policy has the specifics.
Do you log what I do?
We keep what running a network requires: connection metadata for abuse handling, our own web server logs, and your billing records. We do not inspect the contents of your server or your traffic. The Privacy Policy says exactly what is kept and for how long.
How do refunds work if you only take bitcoin?
We send bitcoin back to an address you give us, at the exchange rate on the day the refund goes out — not the day you paid. If BTC moved between those dates, you carry that movement in whichever direction it went. That is the honest consequence of a bitcoin-only business.
Can I pay for a year?
Yes, where a plan lists an annual price, and it usually works out cheaper than twelve months. Given we are new, one month first is a perfectly sensible way to buy from us.
What happens if I do not pay a renewal?
The invoice is raised 10 days early. If it is still unpaid 5 days after the due date the service is suspended — not deleted. Your data stays put and paying brings it straight back. Cancelling is simply not paying; there is no retention maze.
